For nearly 250 years, our commitment to forming good men and good citizens has remained steadfast, driven by a rigorous curriculum, dedicated faculty, and a close-knit residential campus that fosters lifelong brotherhood.
However, the world around us has changed, and with it, so have the needs of our students. While our values remain constant, the resources required to deliver a truly transformative educational experience have continued to grow. The rising cost of what we do has put a college degree out of reach for many talented young men, and scholarship support has become more crucial than ever. Our facilities and programs require constant innovation and investment to ensure our graduates remain at the forefront of discovery and progress.
Recognizing these challenges, Hampden-Sydney has embarked on a bold path forward. Through the generosity of alumni and friends, we have completed several critical projects that have strengthened our foundation and set the stage for future growth.
Where We Are
Hampden-Sydney is on the move. Our mission has inspired unprecedented support, transforming our campus and expanding opportunities for students.
Our endowment continues to grow, strengthening financial stability and fueling scholarships, endowed professorships, and innovative programs like Compass. We've launched new programs to attract the best and brightest young men from around the country.
Venable Hall, our second-oldest building, now blends historic charm with modern amenities. The new Pauley Science Center equips our community to push the boundaries of knowledge.
We've opened the Brown Student Center, where our students live their brotherhood daily. In the Pannill Center for Rhetoric and Communication, our men learn to speak with purpose, write with clarity, and argue with conviction. The Flemming Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is our laboratory where ideas meet action.
We've expanded access to the arts with the vibrant Viar-Christ Center. We’ve upgraded our athletics facilities, including a renovated football stadium and the new shooting range, which is underway.
All this happened because people like you made it happen. We can't stop now.
Where We’re Going
Our progress is substantial, but our vision reaches further.
This campaign will invest in the leaders of tomorrow by growing our endowment to expand scholarship support, ensuring that every deserving young man has access to the transformative power of a Hampden-Sydney education.
We will renovate Gilmer Hall, creating a state-of-the-art academic hub that fosters collaboration, innovation, and the pursuit of knowledge. This investment in our physical campus is an investment in our people, providing the resources and spaces necessary for our students and faculty to thrive.
