Hampden-Sydney College welcomes visitors, prospective students, and families to historic Southside Virginia. Let us help you plan your trip with a virtual map, directions, accommodations, dining options, and area attractions.

Hampden-Sydney College is located in Southside Virginia between Tidewater, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the James River.

The historic 1340-acre campus lies five miles south of historic Farmville, the county seat of Prince Edward County (formed 1754) and home to Longwood University. It is approximately 60 miles southwest of Richmond, 50 miles due east of Lynchburg, and 60 miles southeast of Charlottesville.

When I visited Hampden-Sydney, I was sold. I loved the history, the tradition, the beauty of the campus, and the sense of community. Coupled with its academic reputation, H-SC was the total package.
