Scott Lewis

Scott has served the College in this role since March of 2023. Scott has 25 years of experience assisting clients as a loan officer, closing more than $12 million in loans each year and successfully managing portfolios exceeding $35 million. Scott is a relationship-oriented leader, able to build a strong rapport with those he works with and foster support with those exploring planned giving to the College.

Steven Spencer

Steven has served the College for more than four years, bringing 12 years of development experience, as well as managerial practice. With a Bachelor of Arts in business from Wake Forest University, Steven has served as a development officer with Wake Forest School of Law, Clemson University, University of Georgia, and Oglethorpe University. In addition to building donor relationships and matching donor interests with institutional goals and needs, Steven oversees the regional development officers of Hampden-Sydney College, providing direction and cohesive communication between regional officers and the leadership of the Office of College Advancement.

Heather Howarth

Heather brings over eight years of experience as a gift officer, with an incredible ability to cultivate relationships and match donors’ passions and philanthropic goals to College needs. Heather has served Hampden-Sydney in this role since November of 2021, managing a portfolio of 160 constituents and soliciting gifts of over $1 million. Heather offers an incredible spirit of service and commitment to the team, and assists in championing team efforts to support the growth of the College.

Lauren Kiger

Lauren Kiger is joining the Advancement team as a Regional Development Officer with 14 years of experience in the development sector and over 20 years of total professional experience. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering sustainable growth and building strategic partnerships within communities. Lauren has successfully managed diverse projects, collaborated with stakeholders with various goals, and led initiatives that have positively impacted her areas of work. Known for her leadership, strategic insight, and ability to navigate complex challenges, she is dedicated to driving impactful partnerships for the College in the region she serves.

Paul Amos ’92
Regional Development Officer for Athletics

Paul has been with the College in this role since August of 2024. A graduate of the Class of 1992, Paul also served the College in an assistant coaching role for several years. Professionally, Paul has 20 years of experience in manufacturing and sales management, where he honed relationship-building skills that enable him to serve and support constituents. Paul’s passion and drive for assisting others, paired with his deep knowledge of Hampden-Sydney’s athletic programs and community make him uniquely qualified to successfully support donors as they seek to meet the needs of Hampden-Sydney athletics.
