The purpose of the Episcopal Campus Ministry is to provide students a place to explore life's questions in the context of the Christian faith. We engage scripture, worship, reason and experience in a manner that both progressively addresses today's issues and is rooted theologically in the time-tested anchors of Christian belief and practice. We also just have a lot of fun! The Episcopal Campus ministry is based at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church, located at 400 High Street in Farmville. ECM meets Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Parish Hall for dinner, discussion and compline. Students are also welcome to actively participate in the Sunday morning worship at Johns (8:00 am and 10:30 am). Mission trips, service projects, recreational activities and other special events occur throughout the semester. ECM is open to all students on both campuses of Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College.

The Jewish Student Organization provides opportunities for social and religious activities. While there are no formal religious services on campus, the Sabbath and holidays are occasionally celebrated in common with members of the area's Jewish community, and arrangements for participating in services for the High Holy Days at Congregation Agudath Sholom in Lynchburg are made for those who wish to attend. The Organization and the Office of the College Chaplain annually sponsor a community Seder. The College library has a special endowment for books on Judaism and Jewish culture. Biblical Hebrew is offered as an elective for academic credit in the Department of Religion.
ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP
The mission of Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is to experience and witness to the Orthodox Christian Church on the college campus through community life, prayer, service to others & study of the faith (Acts 2:42). Furthermore, OCF will work to nurture and strengthen love for Jesus Christ and His Church in its fullness at this most critical juncture of human life and offer an opportunity for Orthodox Christian students and those interested in the Orthodox Christian Church to become more fully acquainted with and informed about their Orthodox heritage. The OCF also hopes to strengthen ties between students of the Orthodox Christian Faith, and to develop a more fruitful fellowship among them, and further cooperation with other Christian organizations with similar aims.

YOUNG LIFE
Contact: Michael Crowder
mcrowder@southside.younglife.org
Young Life is an interdenominational ministry with the goal of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. At Hampden-Sydney we offer opportunities to be a part of this ministry through volunteering as a Young Life leader for local high school or middle school students. Through this involvement, our volunteers are able to minister through building friendships with teenagers and earning the right to tell them about Jesus Christ. In order to be involved with this ministry we ask that Hampden-Sydney students take part in a training program that starts in the fall semester. If you do not get involved in the fall though, please contact us and we can help figure out a way to train you for this work on an individualized basis.
