It will support the College's competitive shooting team and expand outdoor education opportunities, blending heritage and modern recreational shooting in a unique academic setting.

“We are all tremendously excited about the expansion of our shooting program, which is a critical component of the College’s High Adventure Program and outdoor education offerings,” says Dean of Students Richard Pantele. “While we know that our competitive shooting team will benefit greatly from this expansion, we know, too, that the experiential learning that all of our students will have access to for both the shooting sports and the historic property will help further the College’s mission in creative and meaningful ways.”

Any funds remaining after construction will support the shooting range's operations and maintenance as well as the outdoor experience program.

The resolution emphasizes the preservation of Slate Hill Plantation's historical significance, taking care to avoid any impact on the historic home on the property or the site of the cemetery.
