The Lambda Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa initiated 13 students, three resident members, and four honoris causa members in a ceremony at College Church on March 23, 2025.

Hampden-Sydney’s chapter of ODK—a national leadership honor society for college men and women—was established at Hampden-Sydney in 1924. Membership is a mark of highest distinction and honor, and member selection is based on an individual’s influence as a campus leader to better campus life and to encourage high standards in all activities.

During the ceremony, Kade Minton ’25 received the Circle Leader of the Year Award, an honor voted on by faculty and staff to recognize exceptional student leadership throughout a student’s time at the College. Additionally, Campus Building Inspector Jerry Carter was presented with the Friend of the Lambda Circle Award, which recognizes a non-ODK member of the community for their support of the society’s values and initiatives. In recognition of Carter’s dedication—particularly his efforts in fundraising for Rise Against Hunger earlier this semester—Director of Human Resources Sue Carter announced that the award will now be named The Jerry Carter Award and will continue to honor a non-ODK member each year.
