Founded on April 12, 1924, Hampden-Sydney's chapter of ODK—a national leadership honor society for college men and women—recently celebrated its 100th anniversary on the Hill. Dedicated to recognizing academic achievement and service to the community, membership in ODK symbolizes the highest distinction and honor. It is based on an individual's impact as a campus leader, striving to enhance campus life and uphold high standards across all activities.
"The Lambda Circle has served Hampden-Sydney for 100 years through the recognition of exceptional leadership and service in our community,” says Circle Coordinator Dr. Michael Wolyniak. “By doing this, the society serves as both an example to which Hampden-Sydney community members can strive and a source for service from the Lambda Circle to the Hampden-Sydney and Farmville communities.”
With a rich history of academic distinction and community engagement, Hampden-Sydney's chapter of ODK stands as a beacon of leadership and service. As it enters its second century, the chapter remains dedicated to upholding the values of scholarship, leadership, and service. Through its ongoing efforts, it continues to inspire and empower students to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
