Hampden-Sydney College has been ranked No. 103 among the 2025 Best Colleges by U.S. News & World Report.

Now in its 40th year, the rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 national colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality and place an emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of the undergraduate programs at America’s colleges and universities. The rankings offer detailed information of the institutions and data on factors such as outcome measures — including graduation rates, graduate indebtedness and post-graduate earnings.

A nationally ranked private college for men that held its first classes in 1775, Hampden-Sydney in Virginia is known for its mission of forming “good men and good citizens,” as well as its codes of honor and conduct, 40-year-old rhetoric program, liberal arts curriculum, and devoted alumni network.
